A pressurized (dual-wall) basket is training wheels: one exit hole, fake crema, forgiveness for pre-ground. A non-pressurized basket is hundreds of holes and a real grind. Whole Latte Love notes the Classic Pro box includes both. HomeBaristaMods’ 58 mm basket SKU is the non-pressurized cup for Gaggia-lug handles — it is not a Dedica 51 mm dual-wall. The ranking Reddit thread is “Newbie alert! Explain pressurized baskets vs. non …”
If the handle will not lock after you swap cups, that is portafilter lock, not “buy dual-wall again.”

What the ranking thread is actually asking
Beginners taste foam from a dual-wall and call it espresso. WLL’s 2023 explainer is blunt: pressurized baskets hide grind errors; non-pressurized baskets need a grinder that can do espresso.
| 宣称 | 真实 | 出处 | 差在哪 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dual-wall is “more pressure” | Dual-wall restricts the exit, it does not raise the OPV | WLL pressurized vs not | Pump vs basket |
| Classic has no commercial basket | Pro box often includes both styles | WLL | Contents |
| Any 58 mm cup | HBM 58 mm listing is Gaggia-class; Dedica is 51 mm | 58 mm basket; 51 vs 58 | Ears |

When to stay dual-wall
No espresso grinder, ESE pods, or you only want a milk drink that looks beige. Dual-wall will not teach you channeling. A bottomless portafilter ($59, Gaggia lugs) is wasted on a dual-wall cup — you cannot see the puck if the basket is lying for you.

When to switch
You own a grinder that can choke a 58 mm bed. Then IMS B68 vs stock is which IMS code. Ridge vs ridgeless is its own catch. Pressurized vs not is step zero: how many walls.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Gaggia Classic Pro come with a pressurized basket?
WLL says many Pro boxes include both pressurized and commercial baskets. Check the cup: one hole vs hundreds.
Will a non-pressurized basket work with pre-ground supermarket coffee?
Usually poorly. Dual-wall exists to hide that grind. Non-pressurized needs espresso-fine, fresh coffee.
Is HomeBaristaMods’ 58 mm basket pressurized?
The Classic/Baby Pro 58 mm accessory is a filter basket for that lug pattern — treat it as a commercial cup, not a Dedica dual-wall.
Does a dual-wall basket replace a 9 bar OPV?
No. OPV is a pump ceiling ($19 Gaggia spring kit). The basket is the puck’s floor.
Can I use a Dedica 51 mm pressurized basket in a Gaggia?
No. 51 mm and 58 mm do not share ears. See the portafilter-size article.
